Leading Children's Social Care (LCSC)
Leading Children's Social Care (LCSC) is a new six month leadership development programme to develop the leadership skills and build the confidence of those aspiring to lead children's social care services.
It is the first leadership development programme for children's social care specifically designed to equip potential assistant directors to step up to the demands of this critical role.
Who is it for?
This programme is targeted at those working in children's social care who aim to be the future leaders of these vital services.
What do I get?
LCSC has been designed with the help of assistant directors of children's social care in the North West and, as a result, is rooted in best practice.
LCSC will provide you with:
- a deeper understanding of your leadership strengths and attributes and key areas for development, giving you a baseline to track your progression
- measurable improvements in your leadership performance and your impact on the motivation and performance of others
- the opportunity to learn with aspiring leaders from other local authorities, exchanging best practice and gaining insights into the full range of leadership practice
- a deeper understanding of the role of an assistant head or head of service and, as a result, the personal and professional satisfaction that comes with leadership roles in this service
On successfully completing the programme you will receive a certificate from CEL, The University of Manchester - one of the top ten European universities.
Dates and costs
The programme costs £750 per participant inclusive of VAT, and offers the opportunity for between 32 and 40 hours of development activity over the six month period.

- 5% for groups of 10 or more
- 10% for groups of 20 or more
- 20% for groups of 30 or more
